In the Kitchen: Our Editorial Standards

We want every DailyDishy recipe and kitchen guide to be clear, useful, and enjoyable to follow. Our editorial approach centers on helping home cooks understand not only what to do, but what to look for as a recipe comes together.

These standards guide how we develop recipes, write instructions, review details, and respond when a reader spots something that needs attention.

Recipe development

Recipes are built around a defined method, with ingredient quantities and timings checked against the intended result. Instructions are organized in the order you need them, including preparation steps and visual cues where they help explain what to expect.

Cooking times are useful estimates, since pans, ovens, ingredients, and home kitchens can vary. We aim to include clear signs of doneness so readers can use their judgment as well as the clock.

Ingredients and substitutions

We favor widely available ingredients and explain their role when that helps a recipe make sense. Measurements include U.S. customary and metric units where practical, and ingredient wording is kept specific enough to support confident shopping and cooking.

Substitutions are suggested when they are likely to work well in the dish. Because ingredients can behave differently, we note when a swap may change flavor, texture, or cooking time rather than presenting every alternative as identical.

Clarity, safety, and corrections

Before publication, recipe copy is reviewed for clear instructions, consistent measurements, and relevant food-safety details. When temperature or safe handling matters, guidance should be specific and appropriate to the ingredient.

If you find an error or have a question about a recipe, email hello@dailydishy.site. We review reader feedback and update content when a correction or clarification is needed.

Photography and original content

Images should accurately represent the food or subject being discussed and be used with appropriate permission or licensing. We aim to make image descriptions useful to readers using assistive technology as well.

DailyDishy content is written for this publication. When we refer to outside information, we aim to describe it in our own words and identify sources where appropriate; we do not reproduce another publisher's articles or photographs without permission.
